Les Paul Artisan
In what is quite possibly the greatest quote in rock, Kinks guitarist Dave Davies once said, “It wasn’t called heavy metal when I invented it.” He was referring, of course, to “You Really Got Me” – the 1964 track that launched the Kinks into the stratosphere, spawned a million cover versions, and (arguably) kick-started a new genre of rock. The Kinks’ place in history would be secure if that was the only song they ever released, but they are, without a doubt, one of the most talented, creative, tuneful, and successful British groups in history. This unusual Gibson Les Paul Artisan model was Dave’s #1 live axe from the late seventies well into the eighties. It’s one of our most treasured pieces of rock history.
Velvet Turnbull & Asser Robe
This absolutely spectacular velvet and silk robe was made for Keith Moon by legendary London clothier Turnbull & Asser. The lion motif is one that Keith used a lot – it signified his astrological sign of Leo. Mr. Moon was in good company when he purchased a Turnbull & Asser robe – they created the wardrobe for Sean Connery in the James Bond films. This piece is directly from the Moon family.
