"I wrote day by day, by my moods, a lot on the Voodoo Tour in early-2000. There were days when I couldn't write because I was in a really good mood, so when things were going well, I did more music than lyrics."
—Sully Erna
Albums
Godsmack (1997)
All Wound Up (1998)
Awake (2000)

"Sometimes the four of us look at each other in disbelief…all this stuff is almost too good to be true. When we heard the album had gone platinum, we were in shock. Up until that point, we were still trying to comprehend the fact that it had gone gold."
—Sully Erna
Greatest Hits:
"Voodoo"
"Spiral"
"Whatever"
"Keep Away"
"Moonbaby"

"There are a lot of emotional highs and lows in my songs, but they're genuine emotions. I seem to do my best writing when I'm down. For me, writing is a release of energy."
—Sully Erna
Did You Know?
  • Godsmack holds the record for Billboard's longest running Top 10 single, "Whatever"—33 weeks.
  • Godsmack borrowed $2500 from a friend to record their first CD.
  • "Greed" was written in response to the same friend. "['Greed'] is about this kid who was a tight friend of ours, who lent us the money to record our indie version of Godsmack and didn't want any money back. But in return we paid him back, and then another 10 grand on top of that as a thanks! Then he tried to sue, saying he owned 10 percent of us. He put me through a year of hell negotiating with lawyers," explained Sully.
  • Sully Erna is a practicing Witch of the Celtic Religion (WICCA) under Salem Witch Laurie Cabot. The Earth-respecting religion is integrated in many of Godsmack's songs and Sully's daily life. "It's been my salvation. A lot of people are confused about witchcraft, it's simply about worshipping the power of the earth, and that's it! It's a positive religion that has helped me through a lot of bad times."
  • Godsmack recorded Awake in a "smelly-@$$ed dump warehouse in the middle of crack-ville Massachusetts." "There was a boxing gym downstairs, if we were hungry, we'd run out and get a crappy fast-food cheeseburger. We didn't want to be surrounded in luxury, we wanted to keep the edge on," remembers Sully.

    Sevendust

  • Artist Name/Instrument

    Lajon Witherspoon/Lead Vocals
    Clint Lowery/Guitar, Vocals

"Everybody in the band plays so hard that if you were to look at our medical problems, we resembled a football team. I don't want to make it sound like a sob story, 'cause we're living a dream here, but everything needs to be done in moderation. We're looking at each other and we've got guys that have shin splints so bad that it takes 30 minutes to wrap them, we have a bass player who needed surgery on his knee, and we're basically not allowed to get off the road."—Morgan Rose (official bio)

    Sevendust (1997)
    Home (1999)
    Animosity (2001)
    Greatest Hits:
    "Praise"
    "Crucified"
    "Black"
    "Bitch"
    "Terminator"
    "Licking Cream"
    "Denial"

    Did You Know?
  • When the band's debut album was released, it surprisingly beat out Queensryche's and the Rollins Band's new albums on the metal charts. The album stayed on top of the charts for 12 weeks.
  • The band performed at Woodstock '99.
  • In less than four years, supporting two albums, Sevendust rocks over 800 shows!
  •
"The experience of being disconnected and being taken away from everything you knew before the last two years, as you can imagine... I always say, think about leaving your house for a weekend. You get back, and your stuff is out of order. Think about leaving your house for 21 months. You get back, your stuff is gone."—Lajon Witherspoon (mtv.com)
