Elvis Presley
An entire section is dedicated to the "King of Rock n’ Roll" and the roll he played in Hawaii. After his first trip to the islands in 1957, Hawaii became his "second home." The islands have played host to two of Elvis's most important concert performances of his career; they were the scenery for three of his films and a favored vacation spot for him. On display is his Harley Davidson hat that he wore frequently including trips to the Hawaiian islands; a letter written to a fan talking about his recent filming of Blue Hawaii, and an envelope that he sent the set list from his Pearl Harbor charity show to a fan back in Memphis, TN.
Velvet Revolver
On display are several pieces from the members of Velvet Revolver. A guitar was used by Slash and signed on the pickguard; Matt Sorum’s drumhead used in the "Slither" music video; his vest and drumsticks used during the 2004 Velvet Revolver tour; Dave Kushner’s guitar used in the “Slither” and “Dirty Little Thing” music videos, and Scott Weiland’s hat donned on the 2004 leg of the US Velvet Revolver tour.
Marty Dread
Marty Dread is known as the "Reggae Ambassador". As a recording artist, disc jockey, and live performer, he draws inspiration from his tropical home here in Maui and spreads it around the world. On display in the Maui Hard Rock is the first guitar Marty ever performed with. It belonged to his great uncle and Marty played it at his first gig when he was 16 at a high school talent show called "Brown Bags to Stardom."
Brad Nowell
-
Sublime
A green and white Hawaiian print shirt that was worn by the late, great Brad Nowell and Brad’s handwritten lyrics to the song "Caress Me Down." The song is featured on Sublime’s 1996 self-titled LP. Both pieces were donated to Hard Rock by Brad's father, Jim Nowell.
Stevie Nicks
-
Fleetwood Mac
A dress worn by Stevie Nicks during several tours including her 1989 solo tour, “Rooms on Fire.”
Jessie Carmichael
-
Maroon 5
Maroon 5 won the Grammy for best new artist in 2005, but they have been rocking since the mid-90’s as the group Kara’s Flowers, a favorite in the college market. They added guitarist James Valentine and changed their name to Maroon 5 and the rest is history. On display are Jessie Carmichael’s shirt and the first guitar that he owned when Maroon 5 was officially formed in 1999. He used it for several live performances and studio recordings.
The Grateful Dead
Several pieces from the Grateful Dead are on display in the Maui Hard Rock. A Hawaiian print shirt worn by Jerry Garcia; a contract issued to each member of the 1981 lineup of the Grateful Dead for their performance on the Tom Snyder hosted TV show, "Tomorrow Coast to Coast;" and Jerry Garcia's handwritten lyrics to the song, "I Couldn't Leave Well Enough Alone."
Richie Sambora
-
Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi developed a melodic variation of hard rock that appealed to everyone, teens and adults alike. On display is Richie Sambora's guitar strap.
Tony Iommi
-
Black Sabbath
On display is a jacket purchased and worn by Tony Iommi in the early ‘70s during several Black Sabbath tours.
Fiona Apple
A pair of white feathered wings that Fiona Apple wore on her 1997 tour, then donated to Hard Rock Cafe in exchange for a donation from Hard Rock to PETA.
