KEITH RICHARDS - THE ROLLING STONES
In the late ’60s, a chance encounter at a London nightclub between the Rolling Stones’ immortal guitarist and nouveau country singer Gram Parsons led to a friendship that would affect the world’s greatest rock and roll band’s sound for years. Keith’s deep affection for American country music is largely due to Gram’s influence, as evidenced in songs like, “Wild Horses” and “Honky Tonk Women.” Though the relationship was cut short by Parsons’ untimely death, this embroidered Nudie-style jacket was a tangible tribute to a lost friend. Gram gave it to Keith in 1968.
ELVIS PRESLEY
On display is a jacket The King wore in a wardrobe test for
Jailhouse Rock
and later gave to his longtime hairdresser and friend Homer Gilleland.
JOHN ENTWISTLE - THE WHO
Quite possibly the greatest rock bass player of all time, the Who’s John Entwistle was also a snazzy dresser. That's why we're displaying an amazing Union Jack jacket that he wore in the '80s.
GENE SIMMONS - KISS
Gene Simmons used this custom Cort Axe Bass onstage at London’s Wembley Arena on May 12, 2010. It still has remnants of stage blood from Gene’s blood-spewing stage act.
FREDDIE MERCURY - QUEEN
On display is a classic example of Freddie Mercury’s late-’70s stagewear. When you’re one of the greatest frontmen in rock history, you can get away with squeezing into a spandex bodysuit and performing to tens of thousands without a hint of self consciousness.
MADONNA
This Andre Van Pier bustier was worn by Madonna during her 1985 world tour in support of the legendary
Like a Virgin
album.
BUDDY HOLLY
Buddy Holly’s musical legacy is so deep, it’s hard to believe the man never lived to see the age of 23. Everyone who has ever picked up an electric guitar and penned a teenage love song owes him a huge debt. On display is a jacket that Buddy owned and operated in the late ‘50s
RICHIE SAMBORA - BON JOVI
We're showing off a beautiful custom guitar built for Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora in 1987 by Rod Schoepfer and nicknamed the “King of Swing”. Richie used it extensively during the band’s
Slippery When Wet
tour.
LIVE AID
This custom Africa-shaped guitar was built by legendary British guitar maker Roger Giffin to celebrate the 1985 Live Aid concerts. It’s a completely unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
MÖTLEY CRÜE – MICK MARS
We've got an incredible jacket on display that Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars wore on stage during the band's 2008
CRÜEFEST
tour.
