Orlando, Fla., April 26, 2010 – Seattle, a city that has produced music legends from Jimi Hendrix to Nirvana to Pearl Jam, now has a new rock mecca in Hard Rock Cafe Seattle. Pike Street will be rockin’ on Thursday, May 20, 2010, when Hard Rock celebrates the Grand Opening of its new Seattle cafe! The exclusive V.I.P. event will feature a 20 Fender® guitar smash salute and a live performance by indie favorite Ra Ra Riot, along with special guests The Thermals. The two groups will rock the Hard Rock stage in support of the brand’s “Love All – Serve All” creed.
The event will benefit both The Vera Project and The Musary, organizations that provide access to musical instruments and foster participation in the performing arts. During the event, Ra Ra Riot will also donate a Big Apple Stratocaster played by Milo Bonacci (the first guitar he ever purchased), which will become a permanent addition to Hard Rock’s world-famous collection.
Formed in January 2006 in Syracuse, NY, Ra Ra Riot have quickly gained a devoted following. They have toured extensively in the United States and abroad with artists such as The Editors, Tokyo Police Club and most recently Death Cab for Cutie. Their debut album The Rhumb Line (released on renowned Seattle label, Barsuk Records) was one of the most critically acclaimed records of 2008. The band has been in the studio working on their new album that is slated for release late summer/early fall of 2010.
In addition to an unforgettable live concert, the V.I.P. grand opening celebration will include a star-studded red carpet and guitar smash to commemorate Hard Rock’s much-anticipated new cafe in Seattle. The event will also feature appearances by representatives of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, owners of Hard Rock International; Hamish Dodds, President and CEO of Hard Rock International; local celebrities, athletes, actors and more.
