This stylish Andre Van Pier shirt was owned by U2 frontman Bono. Since the early ‘80s, Bono and U2 have pioneered the Alternative Rock movement and achieved unparalleled creative and commercial success.

Black Lace Dress

This lace outfit is straight from Madonna’s wardrobe.

John Lennon

Straw Hat

Toward the end of his life, John owned a summer home on Long Island. This hat is from the wardrobe he kept there. He later gave it to Wings guitarist Denny Laine.

Jimi Hendrix

Leather Necklace

This necklace was a favorite of Jimi’s and he wore it often.

Football Jersey

In the mid-‘90s, Oasis were the biggest English band on the planet and their string of hit albums gave rise to the “Britpop” phenomenon. Lead guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher wore this football jersey while on tour with the band.

Stuart Sutcliffe

Self Portrait

This self portrait was done by the Beatles’ original bass player – the late Stu Sutcliffe. Stu was much more of a visual artist than a musician. In fact, he was regarded by his art teachers in Liverpool as one of the most promising students they’d ever taught. He drew this in Hamburg in 1961 during one of the Beatles’ many pre-superstardom nightclub stints.

Silver Halter

Shakira wore this halter on tour in 2005. She donated it to the Hard Rock in return for a generous contribution to her charity, “Fundacion Pies Descalzos.” This charity builds schools in rural areas of Latin America to provide education, nutrition, and counseling for underprivileged and displaced youth.

Johnny Cash

Handwritten Lyrics

These are Johnny Cash’s handwritten lyrics to “Starkville City Jail”. The inspiration for this song was Johnny’s 1965 arrest in Starkville, Mississippi for trespassing.

Bruce Springsteen

Handwritten Lyrics

This very early example of Springsteen’s songwriting is in the Boss’ own hand. It’s for a 1971 song entitled “Sometimes at Night”.

John Lennon

Beatles Letter

In this handwritten note, John is encouraging Capitol Records chairman Bhaskar Menon to put the label’s promotional weight behind the new Yoko Ono album. He also complains about pervasive rumors that the Beatles will be reuniting.

The Clash

Black Jacket

Clash bassist Paul Simonon’s impact on the world of fashion is gigantic, but strangely unsung. He was largely responsible for the English punk dress code that still resonates with fashion designers today. This zippered jacket was part of his wardrobe in the ‘70s.
