Charlie “Bird” Parker was among the most influential jazz musicians of all time and he was, without doubt, the greatest alto sax player this universe has ever seen. He set the template for the hip, troubled musician that was co-opted by the Beats in the ’50s and wholeheartedly embraced by generations of rockers. These mouthpieces are from Bird’s alto sax.
These notes were written by a teenaged Saul Hudson – better known as Slash – when he was a high school senior. In it, he lists some upcoming concerts in the Los Angeles area and makes some technical notes about booking shows and operating band equipment. At the time, he was in a band called “Road Crew”. Less than two years later, he formed Guns N’ Roses.
